W. SMIT, a leading family company established in the centre of the port area of Rotterdam, has more than 60 years of experience in underwater operations and maritime services. This has made Diving & Salvage Company W. SMIT a household name in the maritime world in Rotterdam and far beyond. "Just call SMIT": our clients, large and small, often use this expression. Why? We do not shy away from any job, large or small, for businesses as well as the government. With a 24-hour service, 365 days a year, we are constantly ready to undertake assignments on behalf of shipping, offshore and onshore contracting, industry, government and the private sector. W. SMIT is seriously committed to QHSE excellence and performance; it is in our DNA and essential to our business success. W. SMIT and our operations are all managed according to ISO 9001 and SCC quality standards. All operational procedures for each discipline are compliant with the relevant industry standards, such as the IMCA guidelines for diving operations. We are proud of our fleet and of our very professional and experienced crew. We have the right ship for any job, and it is always in peak condition: we maintain our ships so that they are in tip-top condition at all times. The DSVs/crane vessels Smit Waalhaven 1, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 24 are outfitted with all materials so that they can perform any task quickly, efficiently and expertly. The same applies to our tender/inspection vessels, our floating derrick Poseidon and our spud pole pontoons. These units of our fleet also meet all safety requirements, making it possible for us to use them for work for the petrochemical industry. Another indispensable tool in our work is our transportable decompression units. These units are required for repairs or work at a depth of 15 metres or more, the so-called decompression depth.
