Maritimedex (Fulya Mah. Büyükdere Cad. No:74/D Torun Center Kat:3 Ofis:10 Şişli, İstanbul, Türkiye) decides how your personal data is used on this site: we are the data controller under Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) and, for people in the European Union, the GDPR. This policy says what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and password.
- Company listings: what you add about a company: its name, logo, website, location, services, ports, description, categories and brands. These are shown to everyone. The company email address is used to confirm the company and to reach it; it is not shown.
- Invoice details: the name or company name, address and country, tax office, and tax number, Turkish ID number or VAT number.
- Payments: the amount, the dates, the last four digits of the card and the bank's reference. Your card number goes straight to Garanti BBVA; we never receive it.
- Messages: what you write to us through the contact form or by email, with your name and email address.
- Technical data: your IP address, kept with codes and forms to stop abuse, our server's logs, and how the site is used (the pages visited), through our analytics service.
Cookies
We use one cookie of our own, which keeps your visit together (for example, keeps you signed in); it is deleted when you close your browser. Our analytics service sets its own cookies to count visits and see which pages are used; it is not used on the payment page. We don't use advertising cookies.
Why we use it
- To run your account and listings and show listings to visitors: to carry out our agreement with you.
- To take payments, issue invoices and keep them as tax and commercial law require: a legal obligation.
- To keep the site safe and stop spam and abuse: our legitimate interest.
- To answer your messages and email you about your account, listing and payments. We don't send marketing emails without your consent.
Who we share it with
We don't sell personal data. We share it only with those who help us run the service, and only what they need:
- Garanti BBVA, for card payments;
- our accounting and e-invoice provider, for invoices;
- our hosting, email and analytics providers;
- public authorities, when the law requires it.
Some of these providers may keep data outside your country. When data leaves Türkiye or the European Union, it does so with the safeguards the law requires.
How long we keep it
- Account and listings: while your account is open. When you delete it (Profile → Delete account), they are deleted at once.
- Payments and invoices: as long as tax and commercial law require, up to 10 years.
- Codes, IP addresses and logs: only as long as needed to keep the site safe.
- Messages: as long as needed to answer and follow up.
Your rights
You can ask whether we hold data about you, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it and ask who we have shared it with (KVKK Article 11; GDPR Articles 15 to 21). You can change most of your details yourself under Profile and My Company, and delete your account under Profile → Delete account; for anything else write to support@maritimedex.com, and we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority or, in the European Union, to your data protection authority.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and only the people who run Maritimedex can reach your data. Card details never pass through our servers.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top, and we email account holders about important changes.
