Come sail the dream on the Great Lakes aboard Schooner Huron Jewel, a custom built 78 ft gaff-rigged schooner designed and built by owner Captain Hugh Covert. Offering daysails, charters, and windjammer cruises in the Les Cheneaux Islands, St Marys River, and Drummond Island areas, as well as in the North Channel and the Great Lakes. Also available for special events and weddings. Schooner Huron Jewel is Captain Covert's ninth boat to build. Built on Drummond Island, she is a shallow draft, centerboard schooner designed by Capt Hugh for the waters of the Great Lakes. She is 60 feet on deck and 78 feet overall, made of fiberglass, epoxy, and over 20 types of wood. With standing headroom throughout, she sleeps ten people and yet only needs two crew to sail her. She offers sailing trips to the public through the Coverts' business, Drummond Island Tall Ship Company.
