We, HullWiper Korea Ltd., provide hull cleaning service using an underwater remote vehicle (ROV) while loading and unloading the cargo. We’ve cleaned various VLCC, cape size, and panamax size bulk carriers at Yeosu/Gwangyang port using unmanned underwater cleaning robots because the shipowners prefer to clean in a safe and efficient way based on the following reasons. 1. We mobilize two robots and one ROV dedicated vessel for hull cleaning service together with 6 divers for propeller polishing, rudder, sea chest, bow/stern thruster, bilge keels, rope guard cleaning etc. The shipowner wants to check the perfect cleaning quality and we deliver the full live CCTV files taken from the robot (not still images) for quality assurance – no cheating in the cleaning quality! 2. If you sail without removing the biofouling attached to the hull, the speed of the ship decreases and the fuel consumption increases due to friction, as if the ship is sailing wrapped in rug and wool. 3. You also cannot meet your ESG management declaration to decrease CO2 emission. 4. If you clean the hull with a brush mounted robot or divers, it is illegal as they will drop the biofouling and the hull paint coating into the ocean, and the coast guard will crack down on it. Based on 1700+ cleaning records for HullWiper ROVs, many customers enjoy 0.5~1.0 knot of speed advancement (fuel saving) after our hull cleaning service. HullWiper Korea Ltd. provides the legally clean service at Yeosu, Gwangyang and other major ports in Korea and also coordinates ROV cleaning outside Korea through the HullWiper global alliance.
