Karavelioğlu Group was established by the brothers Osman Azmi Karavelioğlu and Cemal Azmi Karavelioğlu in 1916. The group started its professional life as a Shell and Mobil dealer. By 1980 the group was the oldest dealer in Turkey and had also become the biggest bunker dealer in the Marmara region. The Group has been led by Mr. İlhan Karavelioğlu, who has also been President of the Turkish Ship Owners Confederation since 1992 and of other social organizations, with Mr. İhsan Karavelioğlu as vice president. The Group expanded its activities into tanker ownership and ship management from the 1960s to 2008, working with Shell, Mobil, Ditaş (the main government tanker company), BP, Perenco and other first-class operators and worldwide traders. The Group also has some activities in tourism and construction.
