Iwip Bay Nickel Pty Ltd

Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) has begun construction of a nickel ore processing and refining plant using pyrometallurgical/RKEF technology with a capacity of 30,000 tons of Ni per year, located in the PT. IWIP industrial area. The plant was planned to start production in 2020 and will absorb around 2,500 workers during construction, plant operation and mining activities. PT. WBN obtained its AMDAL (environmental impact assessment) in 2009 from the Provincial Government of North Maluku, covering mining and refining activities.
