Provimar Ship Suppliers started in Puntarenas, Costa Rica in 1996 as a solution for ship provisions supply. Our CEO, Mr. Konstantinos Christofileas, worked as a seaman on merchant ships for ten years, navigating around the world. Arriving in Costa Rica in 1993, he fully understood the local needs of ships and crew, and his wide experience let him structure a company to fulfil the needs of ships in a country where there was no such possibility. As a pioneer ship supplier, the company knows the changing needs of a growing market. It initially started with an office in Puerto Caldera, and over the years it became necessary to open branch offices in the rest of the Costa Rican ports, being the sole authorized company in the Pacific and Caribbean. It rapidly became the best alternative in Costa Rica as a trustworthy supplier. Over the years client needs changed, requesting new services, and the services expanded to other areas such as fuel and spare parts delivery, repairs and waste disposal. In order to improve the level of service, it started joint ventures with certified companies in quality assurance, social awareness and sustainability, certifying Provimar in those fields too. Some of these alliances allow us to deliver provisions in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic so far. Understanding how fast-changing the shipping business is, in years to come Provimar will stay ahead of industry needs.
