RoHS compliance testing has become a customary procedure for most manufacturers, sellers, distributors and recyclers of electrical and electronic components or equipment sold or used in the European Union. The requirement for RoHS testing is a result of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS Directive), which came into effect on 1st July 2006. The RoHS Directive was drawn up in the European Union to safeguard human health and the environment from lethal substances by curbing the usage of six dangerous chemicals in electrical and electronic products.
