Next to our magnetic compass adjustment services performed on board, we offer remote magnetic compass adjustments via our 24/7 distance support desk. Our procedure involves a complete compass swing of the vessel out at sea, or, when she is en route, only on the main courses to her next port of call. The actual adjustments are always performed at the convenience of the Master and can be done at intervals depending on the weather, traffic congestion and the most favourable courses for making the correct headings, in line with the voyage planning. Our remote compass adjustment service is working to everybody’s satisfaction (vessel, class, owners) and is showing especially good results when the vessel operates with big differences in latitude, because we are now able to make Flinders bar corrections with big differences in latitude and when crossing the magnetic equator. We keep track of the vessel for 2 months after issuing the deviation card.
